My Chobani yogurt experience

Chobani flagship store in NYC
My Chobani yogurt experience

It’s no secret that Chobani has become America’s #1 yogurt brand, but this doesn’t mean there aren’t any other hidden surprises. In light of the growing trend in health food eateries Chobani decided to further their consumer appeal by opening up a flagship store! I’ll be honest and tell you that I just literally stumbled upon this gem in the heart of downtown Soho while doing some leisure shopping. Unbeknownst to me this storefront has been in operation for nearly 8 months now in NYC! Today just happened to be my lucky day!

I’ve always loved Chobani because they are one of the few Greek yogurt brands that bring you loads of great flavor selections like their fresh cut mango or blood orange flavor at only 70 calories per cup! And although their nutritional facts shows you their yogurt is loaded with protein and contains less sugar they go a step further by taking you behind the scenes of their production process. On their website they show the simple straight forward steps for crafting their Chobani yogurt to ensure simple ingredients and real flavor!

Why choose Chobani Greek yogurt over regular yogurt

Regular yogurts contain a very small portion of protein and loads of sugar, which takes away from the nutritional value of this dairy product. Since Chobani Greek yogurt is strained to remove excess liquid you’re getting 13-18 grams of protein in every 6 ounce cup, which is 2 to 3 times more than regular yogurt and nearly the full amount of protein you should be getting per serving. Even most other Greek yogurt brands don’t come close to these many grams of protein.

Chobani storefront experience

I was first impressed by the set-up of the Chobani store situated in downtown Manhattan. For a brand that has never done over the counter service prior to opening this yogurt bar they came up with another never-before-seen concept. Chobani has decided to stick with all natural serving dishes just like their yogurt by going green in their no plastic left behind approach. They only serve here a glass bowl, which I was then invited to keep and bring back to receive a discount on my next visit! Talk about a double win! They’ve already made a repeat customer out of me while contributing to a healthier place.

My Chobani yogurt experience

If you think your Chobani yogurt cups at home have flavor, you haven’t seen nothing yet! I seriously stood puzzled staring at the menu trying to decide on what creation to go with until finally the lady working helped point me to her personal favorite, which contained pistachios, dark chocolate, honey, oranges, mint leaves and because I couldn’t resist some added pomegranate seeds! I almost asked for a second, it was that good.

You have your choice between 9 great menu options or you can do a make-it-yourself creation! The best though is that they are even willing to let you walk away with the recipes in hand! Anytime you taste something you love usually your first inkling is to try to recreate it well here you can without any guesswork.

How often do you get to leave a yogurt bar with a goodie bag? Well, here you do! Not only did I get a clean glass bowl (the one I hate from was put into washing), but also all the recipes they offer on cute little cards with the pictures of each so I know what my end result will look like. Just in case you live too far away to take advantage of these great recipe ideas I’ve shared a few of them for you below!

Yes if you’re ever in NYC I highly recommend you drop in. But you can also try one of the great recipes I featured here! The Pistachio+ Dark Chocolate creation I had I was told is one of the most requested flavors, but give them all a taste.

Definitely do!! It’s located on West Broadway in Soho! It’s getting a lot of attention because the set-up is so unique. I love that you get a take-away glass bowl to keep and you get to watch as they prepare your creation plus all the recipe cards! I didn’t end up buying any new Spring clothes yesterday on my shopping trip, but glad I found this yogurt bar instead!
