Meet the faces behind Fitness A Way Of Life, Kern & Noelle. What started off as a part-time gig to help pay the bills and a commitment to taking full responsibilty for our own health soon flourished into a career endeavor as we began to see how people began to gravitate towards our principles in life. Becoming the best version of yourself goes beyond eating a well-balanced meal and hitting the gym once in awhile. It's a focus that requires discipline and an awareness of how you can always be striving to be stronger, faster, better. It's the acknowledgment that there's always room for growth and improvement and little room for stagnancy.

What is our mission?

To build a larger local community of people who want to get themselves into better shape, but don't know where to begin. We want to meet with these people face to face and provide them with the workouts, nutritional guidance and mentoring to get them to their next fitness goal. Personal interaction is very important to us because we believe it leaves the most lasting impression. Most of the clients we work with have been with us for years and it all goes back to that relationship we've developed with them. People don't just look up to us, they confide in us and trust our training.

We also want to provide a free platform to encourage more fitness newbies, lovers and gurus to come forward. This blog we've created gives the ever-growing world-wide fitness community a voice. Just as much as we want to share with you the tools and knowledge to improve your health we want you to share about you! Leave us comments with your thoughts, email us your questions, and if you see something you like spread the love (like it, link it or repost it).

How do we stay fit?

We take our diet very seriously. Most of our meals are home-cooked in our tiny walk-in kitchen, which has no counter space. Yes if we can do it so can you! We cut things like soda and chips completely out of our diet. Boozing is for a rare occassion; typically we will cap at a glass of wine a couple of nights a week with dinner. We also live a very active lifestyle. In addition to working out in the gym, we enjoy playing sports, hiking to the top of one of the Seven Wonders of the World (yes, really!), indoor rock climbing, and running. But we also enjoy those not so conventional sports like sky-diving for the adrenaline rush, which burns calories too!

How did we get into personal training?

Noelle started by working for a corporate gym chain and after building a strong clientele following she ventured out on her own. Kern worked as a shirtless greeter so it was an easy sell for him. He started training people who would walk up to him and say "how do I look like you?" We both know it's impossible to try to look like someone else, but it helps sometimes to have a role model so that you can strive to get yourself in your best shape.

Do we have any fitness credientials?

Yes, we are both ACE and CPR/AED certified. Kern has a degree in biology, which has advanced his understanding of how the body functions and the science behind exercise.

Are we models?

Yes. If you take notice at the top of our blog we have a link to "Model Portfolio." We found it important to include this component of ourselves so you guys can see what we do outside of the gym, but also to give us some "celebrity appeal" if you will. Let's face it we all are inspired by people we see on tv, or in magazines even though they too are just ordinary people. It also gives our clients bragging rights. It's always nice to that oooo ahhh effect from your friends when you can say, "hey our trainer was just featured in ESPN magazine!"
